It seems that there is no country as complex as Israel. Society, politics, religion, economy,
history, geography, even the climate… everything is full of tensions, secrets, contradictions – but also balances,
mergers and a fascinating nobility.
During the course, we will see how all these layers merge and are reflected in Hebrew poetry, in its many shades,
from the 1960s until today. Through the shared reading of a small and strong selection of excellent Hebrew poets – Haim Guri,
Yehuda Amichai, Zelda, Avot Yeshuron and Roni Somek – we will deepen our acquaintance with the world of Israeli poetry.
The course will be held in Hebrew and will include writing exercises.
