How do we deal with the war in Israel as a family?
parents of young children (from birth to 10)
As the war broke out, in the first few days we were all in a state of shock
The news developed from minute to minute and we were all glued to the screen. Our minds did not allow us to leave the news.
It all happened so fast…
Then began the pictures, videos and horrors we were exposed to – a real Holocaust!!
Now I am in an ongoing trauma… A feeling of great sadness, helplessness, lack of energy and unwillingness to do something.
Some of us deal with trauma by freezing and not being able to do even simple tasks.
Some are coping by fighting the situation and choose to go to demonstrations, collect donations and more.
And some who cope by (flight) simply prefer not to hear, not to know and to disconnect in order to preserve their psyche.
Everyone copes differently and sometimes the same person on different days will cope differently.
And during all these emotional challenges, we raise our children and try to maintain a front of some kind of routine.
What do we do when the heart hurts, there is no energy but we need to go on with life and be strong for our small children?
How do you conduct yourself on two parallel levels?
What do we do when our children show changes in behavior?
And have our children really become more “difficult and stubborn” or do we have less patience and containment?
All this and more will be discussed at a meeting for parents of young children (birth to 10) on November 8 at 5:30 PM West Time / 8:30 PM East Time.
The lecture will be given by Yael Omer – for the past 23 years a parent educator, behavior analyst, master’s degree in special education,
and an expert in attention deficit disorder and sensory regulation. Owner of the International Parenting School.
The event will be held in Hebrew.
After the registration, we will email all the details including a Zoom link.
IAC OFEK is waiting to meet you at the lecture!
