Overview:

The Israeli American Council (IAC) will use SMS messaging platforms for essential updates, direct communication, reminders, and support related to events and programs. SMS may be used for both one-on-one communication and informational marketing messages.

This policy does not apply to SMS sent directly from IAC employees from phone numbers which are not managed by IAC through the organizations’ platforms.

1. Customer Opt-Out
Customers are automatically enrolled in SMS communication. They can unsubscribe from marketing messages at any time by replying with an opt-out keyword (e.g., “STOP” or another specified word), and their removal will be processed.

2. Compliance
Our SMS communications comply with the Telephone Consumer Protection Act (TCPA) and California Consumer Privacy Act (CCPA) for marketing messages, with these regulations applying solely to marketing text messages and not restricting one-on-one, direct communications with customers.
Under TCPA, marketing SMS will only be sent with a clear opt-out process, allowing customers to unsubscribe by replying with a designated keyword. In compliance with CCPA, customers have the right to know what data is collected (e.g., phone number) for marketing communications and may request deletion, with customer data collected for SMS marketing not used for other purposes.

3. Message Frequency and Content
Marketing and informational messages will generally not sent often with flexibility for increased frequency during high-activity periods to ensure timely updates and support. All messages will be concise, relevant, and professional, with direct, one-on-one messages sent as needed to support customer inquiries and provide assistance.

4. Data Privacy  
Customer phone numbers will be stored securely and accessible only to authorized personnel. Customers may request the deletion of their information at any time, and we will fulfill such requests in compliance with applicable laws, including the California Consumer Privacy Act (CCPA) if relevant.
