Yakir Ben-Moshe

Yakir Ben-Moshe, born in 1973, lives and works in Tel Aviv, winner of the Israeli Prime Minister’s Prize for Literature in 2012 and the Israeli Minister of Culture’s Prize in 2003. Has published six books, the most recent of which, “Whistle of a Night Watchman”, published by the ‘Bialik Institute’ in 2021. His poems have been translated into various languages, including English, Russian, Greek, Chinese, Turkish, and published in anthologies and literary journals. Since 2000, Yakir Ben-Moshe has been the literary editor and cultural events editor at Beit Bialik, the house of the Israeli national poet Hayim Nahman Bialik; Edited the ‘Poetry on the Road’ project of the Tel Aviv Municipality (2004-2015), the International Poetry Festival ‘Gate’ (2011-2015); He served as a judge for the best Poetry Award by the Israeli President’s House in Jerusalem (2018-19) and also a judge for the ‘Haaretz’ newspaper competition for the short story (2005). In addition, Ben-Moshe writes for the press about literature and classical music, edits poetry and prose books for many writers (including Nava Semel, Yossi Alfi), and has rich and varied experience in teaching literature and writing workshops in many settings, including: Tel Aviv University, Seminar Kibbutzim, Helicon (the Association for the Advancement of Poetry in Israel(, Kibbutz Yotvata, and more. For this he was awarded the title of ‘Best Writing Workshop Teacher in Israel’ by the ‘Maariv’ newspaper.
