Zehava Dahan

My name is Zehava Dahan, and I am the Enrichment Educational Manager of Ofek Hub. I have been working as a Jewish educator in the Bay Area for 30 years, both as a classroom teacher and as a head of Jewish and Hebrew studies in formal and informal Jewish education. Studying education at Haifa University and at San Francisco State University inspired me to use varied education approaches, keeping the student at the center. For me, the most exciting aspect of working with students is the creation of a warm environment through a broad partnership of teachers, parents, and students. My goal is to use that partnership to develop inquisitive, engaged, and caring children who will become lifelong learners and compassionate human beings.
שמי זהבה דהאן ואני מנהלת קורסי ההעשרה באופק. עבדתי בקהילה היהודית באזור סן פרנסיסקו כ-30 שנה כמורה וכמנהלת תוכניות חינוכיות בבתי כנסת ובתי ספר יומי יהודי. בעקבות לימודי באוניברסיטת חיפה וחינוך הרך באוניברסטת סן פרניסיסקו, פיתחתי דרכים שונות ורבות ללמד ולחנך, כאשר התלמיד תמיד במרכז. אני מאמינה שאחד הדברים החשובים ביותר בהוראה עם תלמידים זה ליצור אוירה של לימוד וקשר חם עם התלמידים, המשפחות והקהילה הרחבה יותר. דרך הקשר הזה אני מקווה להעביר לתלמידים את הרצון ללמוד, לשאול שאלות, להסתקרן ולהעביר הלאה, את מה שלמדו, לסביבתם ולהיות חלק מהקהילה.
