FAQ

What is the World Zionist Congress (WZC)?

The WZC, often referred to as the “Parliament of the Jewish People,” is the supreme ideological and policy-making body of the World Zionist Organization. It convenes every five years in Jerusalem to discuss and decide on key issues concerning the global Jewish community and the State of Israel.

What does the WZC actually decide on?

The WZC determines the priorities and policies of the World Zionist Organization (WZO), the Jewish Agency for Israel, Keren Kayemet LeIsrael (KKL-JNF), and Keren Hayesod. These organizations oversee significant funding for Jewish education, aliyah (immigration to Israel), Israel advocacy, and community programs worldwide.

Why are the 2025 WZC elections important?

The 2025 WZC elections will determine the allocation of significant resources—over $1 billion annually—for initiatives that impact Israel and Jewish communities worldwide. The elected delegates influence decisions on education, cultural programs, combating antisemitism, and more.

How many seats are there in the WZC, and how are they divided?

The WZC has 524 seats, with 152 seats allocated to U.S. delegates based on election results. The more votes we secure, the more seats we gain, giving our community a stronger voice and greater financial influence.

What the Israeli-American Council (IAC) Slate #22 stands for?

The IAC Slate represents the interests and values of Israeli-Americans and Jewish-Americans who are committed to strengthening our communities, our next generation’s Jewish identity and connection to Israel, the bond between the U.S. and Israel, the support for Israel, preservation of Hebrew and combating antisemitism. By participating in the WZC elections, the IAC aims to ensure that our community’s voice is heard in shaping the future of Zionism and in supporting financially vital programs.

Who is on our slate?

Our slate is made up of a diverse and dynamic group of Israeli-Americans and American Jews—men and women, young professionals and seasoned leaders, students, philanthropists, and influential voices from across our communities. What unites us is a shared commitment to strengthening Jewish identity, fostering community engagement, and deepening the bond between the U.S. and Israel. Together, we represent a broad spectrum of backgrounds and experiences, all dedicated to shaping a strong and vibrant Zionist future.

Why is the Israeli-American community’s voice important in these elections?

Israeli-Americans are one of the fastest-growing Jewish communities in the U.S., yet historically, our representation in Zionist institutions has been limited. This election is our opportunity to ensure that our priorities—Hebrew education, Jewish identity, combating antisemitism, and a strong U.S.-Israel relationship—are properly represented and funded.

What does winning seats in the WZC mean in practical terms?

The more seats a slate wins, the greater its influence over:

  • Allocating over $1 billion in annual funding to Zionist programs.
  • Shaping educational and cultural programs that promote Hebrew, Israeli identity, and Jewish continuity.
  • Supporting initiatives to combat antisemitism and BDS on a global scale.
  • Influencing policies that strengthen the U.S.-Israel relationship and Zionist leadership worldwide.

Who is eligible to vote in the 2025 WZC elections?

Any Jewish individual over the age of 18 residing in the United States (a US citizen or a legal permanent resident in the United States) who did not vote in the Nov’ 2022 Israeli Knesset elections, is eligible to vote in the WZC elections.

When and how can I vote?

Voting will take place online between March 10 and May 4, 2025. To vote, you will need to register and pay a nominal fee of $5, which covers the operating costs of the election. The official election website will be shared soon, so stay tuned for updates!

What happens after the election?

Once the election results are finalized, elected delegates represent their slates at the World Zionist Congress in Israel, where they vote on policies and funding distribution. The elected representatives serve for five years and play a key role in decision-making on global Jewish and Zionist issues.

Does my vote actually make a difference?

Yes! Every vote contributes to winning seats, which means more influence, resources, and representation for our values and our community. Even a few hundred votes can shift funding priorities toward programs that matter to us.

How can I support the IAC Slate beyond voting?

  • Spread the Word: Encourage friends, family, and community members to vote for the IAC Slate #22.
  • Volunteer: Participate in outreach efforts to raise awareness about the elections.
  • Stay Informed: Follow IAC communications for updates, events, and ways to get involved.
